In Kone Phaya (Nyaung Pin Kan) village, Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, a high school principal and her husband were shot dead by PDF (People’s Defense Force) members on the morning of June 15 around 8 a.m.
Daw Nilar Win (42), the principal of the local Basic Education High School (Branch), was inside the school’s staff quarters with her husband, U Zaw Lat (45), and her younger sister, Ma Shwe Yi Win (19), when seven PDF members arrived on four motorcycles. The armed men forcibly dragged the principal and her husband out of the quarters and shot them dead in an open area in front of the building.
Security forces are continuing operations to identify and arrest the PDF members involved in the attack, according to a statement released by the State Administration Council.
