Starting May 11, subsidized fuel is being sold in Lashio Township, Northern Shan State, under the arrangement of the Shan State Government Committee. Both Octane 92 and Premium fuel types are being offered at a fixed rate of Ks4,500 per liter.
According to sources, each motorcycle is allowed to purchase up to 2 liters, while each car is permitted to buy up to 10 liters at the fixed price. The designated sales points have seen a high turnout of customers lining up to refill their vehicles.
“We sell over 4,000 liters per day at the fixed price. On most days, the fuel is sold out by around 10 a.m. Once the subsidized quota is gone, we sell at the regular market price,” a fuel vendor explained.
Currently, there are two designated fuel stations selling at the government-fixed price in Lashio. These include the Regency fuel station in Ward 12 and the Ah Thaw Ka fuel station near the entrance to the city.
