Malaysia arrests over 1,200 Myanmar nationals in massive crackdown on illegal immigrants, according to sources.

Authorities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, conducted a massive crackdown on illegal immigrants on May 30, media reported.

Seven agencies from various departments conducted a raid in the Salayan area of ​​Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and arrested 1,435 undocumented foreigners, the report said.

The arrests included 1,222 Myanmar nationals, 142 Bangladeshis, nine Indians, two Indonesians, and a Nepali national.

The Salayan area is home to a large number of Myanmar migrant workers, and the majority of those arrested were Myanmar nationals.

The arrests are being processed under the Immigration Act, the reports said.
