On the morning of June 14, around 9 a.m., nine students from Kalate Village High School Branch in Nyaung-U Township were staying in the Thiri Mingalar neighborhood, Ward No. 1, to retake their matriculation exams. However, six of them—Ma Khin Thet Htar, Ma Gyu Gyu Su Hlaing, Ma Toe Ei Wai, Ma Ya Min Thu, Ma Mya Mya Thet, and Maung Chan Myae Aung—were taken back by their parents after PDF members threatened them.
